I wanted to focus this week’s blog on motivation. If you’re like me, you’re super motivated to go to the gym, workout, eat healthy, and get in shape. That motivation only winds up lasting about a week. You don’t really know how to stay motivated, and you kind of just let it all go.

Staying motivated is possible. I know it can be hard, but if I can do it anyone can.

1. Have someone who’s in it with you.

You don’t have to be alone in your fitness goals. When you have someone blowing up your phone and dragging you to the gym, you’re more likely to stay on track than you would be if you were going about it alone. Plus, when your partner is slacking you can also help them. In the end you’ll both be happy you had one another. Sometimes the “Hey, have you gone to the gym today?” or a “Shouldn’t you be eating something a little healthier?” isn’t an insult, its someone trying to keep you motivated to reach your goal.

2. Follow a fitspo.

These blogs aren’t meant to make you feel down about yourself and your body image, but more to inspire you and motivate you to get into better shape. If you look on tumblr you can find some great fitspo blogs, and there’s even a few great Instagram accounts.

3. Set reminders on your phone.

“Remember to avoid soda, choose water instead (my biggest problem… I love soda)” or “The best form of revenge is a hot body (taking a little stab at our ex’s, there’s nothing he would hate more than seeing you looking hotter than ever)” are reminders that will help keep your goal clear in your mind.

Meal of the Week: Yet again not a meal, but one of my favorite foods and its super healthy… avocado!

It tastes good with almost everything. Its great in salads, on sandwiches, in wraps, in sushi, and on its own. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner you can add it into whatever. For breakfast, egg whites and avocado with a little bit of cheese on a wheat bagel. For lunch, grilled chicken and avocado with lettuce and tomato on a wheat baguette. For dinner, a cucumber avocado roll with brown rice. It all tastes good and is fairly low in carbs. Avocado (its not a vegetable, it’s a fruit!) has so many health benefits such as containing more potassium than bananas, it’s loaded with fiber, and may be able to prevent cancer.
