One of Laramie’s most recent accomplishments, as there are many, was joining the co-ed pre-professional communications fraternity on campus, Zeta Phi Eta! “I’m from Texas and Greek life is so big there and I was like…I don’t want to join a regular sorority. Seeing they had something just for communications majors made me really interested in it. I actually got my best friend Nicole, who’s in my pledge class, to join with me.” Laramie has nothing but love for the frat and her pledge class and truly doesn’t know what she would do without them.
Yee haw, Laramie’s also from Texas! When asked what made her want to come all the way to Long Island for school, she says she’s always wanted to come to New York. “I always wanted to move to New York. Ever since I was 13, I was like, ‘I need to get out of my small town and go to the big city.’” Her hometown is about 30 minutes outside of Dallas, so she wanted to have a similar experience of not living directly in a big city, but still having easy access to it. Hofstra was the perfect fit.
As mentioned earlier, Laramie is a woman of many accomplishments. She is involved in WRHU, the campus radio, and writes for the Newsline segment. When she had her first live report on air earlier in the year where she reported on traffic and weather, her mom was so happy and her grandma showed everyone at Church. In our opinion, everyone deserves the kind of support Laramie receives from her mother and grandmother. She’s also part of Hofstra Intervarsity Christian Fellowship! They hold a large worship service every Thursday at HofUSA that is open to everyone, so head on over if you’re interested. Laramie is becoming the PR chair of Hofstra Intervarsity next semester and says it will be nice to bring attention to something she cares about.
Although Laramie is currently a journalism major, she describes her dream job as this:
“I always describe my dream job as when Stormi, Kylie Jenner’s baby, can drive and gets her first DUI, I want to be her PR person.”
We think Stormi should definitely feel very secure having Laramie as her PR person, as Laramie’s confidence is like no other and her ability to meet new people and charm them with her bubbly personality is unmatched. She expressed to us how she perceives her biggest weaknesses as being an extrovert and thinking she’s the funniest person on the planet. If everyone had “weaknesses” like this, we think the world would be a brighter and better place.
