Try Baking These Valentine’s Day Desserts

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

There is nothing wrong with spending a little extra on a fancy Valentine’s Day dinner but, skip the dessert and come home for some quality SO bonding time! Why share two slices of cake when you can make an entire one yourself? Here’s a list of some fun, easy and super sweet desserts you can bake together.

Molten Lava Cake

Nothing can beat this crowd favorite! I love the warm taste of chocolate with a spoon of vanilla ice cream on the side. Although this recipe requires a fair amount of ingredients, the steps are quiet easy! See the recipe here

2. Chocolate Covered Fruits

It doesn’t get any easier than this! The trick to making these extra festive is finding Valentine’s Day colored frosting, or creating your own with food coloring. Go crazy with cute designs and sprinkles to add to the flare! The more decorative you get, the better! Recipe here.

3. Cake Pops

Cake pops are the cuter version of traditional cakes. There are so many ways you can decorate these. Similar to the chocolate covered fruits, have fun with different color frosting, sprinkles and designs. To make this recipe even simpler, buy a boxed cake mix rather than making yours from scratch. Here is an easy recipe.

4. Candy Popcorn

If you plan on cozying up with your SO to watch a movie, try making this yummy popcorn to go with it. Give your traditional butter popcorn a makeover and add M&Ms, marshmellows and other little chocolates.  Enjoy the recipe here!

5. Thumbprint Cookies

Thumbprint cookies are so fun to make. Fill the thumbprint part with jelly or chocolate. Here is the recipe.

6. No Bake Cheesecake

It doesn’t get much easier than ‘no-bake’ desserts. The internet is full of simple recipes like this so start looking for your perfect one, or try this no-bake cheesecake recipe.

7. Strawberry Fudge

Last but not least, this recipe is my personal favorite. The best part about it is, it only requires two ingredients. Yes, you read that right, just two! Enjoy the recipe here!

Whatever you and your significant other make, I’m sure you’ll have a fun and sweet time. Happy Baking!
