As the semester nears the halfway point, Zoom University is more tiring than ever. But you’re not alone! Here are 10 tips to overcome fatigue and care for yourself.

Get Enough Sleep the Night Before

Although it does not feel like school as usual, you should treat it as it is. It may seem easier and desirable to nap during class, but you would not be able to do that in a normal, in-person setting. Getting a good amount of sleep the night before will set you up for success for the day.

Have a Separate Space to Zoom

AKA- Not your bed. It is so tempting to keep your camera off and lay in bed, but it only adds to the exhaustion of online schooling. Even if you do not have space to yourself, try and set yourself up at a desk or table dedicated to school. You can even make it fun and personalize the area.

Stay Hydrated Throughout Class

Keep a water bottle by your side at all times. Water keeps you energized. It also helps to prevents the headaches you may get from staring at a computer screen.

Put Your Phone Away

We can all agree that sitting on Tik Tok instead of listening to a lecture is much more entertaining. However, online school is all about what you make of it. To get the most out of this experience, keep your phone out of sight.

Dedicate Your Attention to School and School Only

Similar to that last point, clear your space of any other distractions. Dedicating your time to participate and really listen makes time goes faster. It will also make you feel more energized and comfortable knowing that you are learning.

Fuel Your Body with Nourishing Meals

Sitting at home comes with a lot of temptations that need to be curbed- but eating should not be one of them. Eat when you are hungry, and fill up on foods that make your body feel good.

Let Some Sunshine In

Keep the lights on and open up your blinds. Sunshine has such a powerful effect on the mind. It will make you feel full of energy and ready to learn.

Get Outside

The weather is starting to warm and the days are getting lighter and longer- take advantage of it! Bring your computer outside when you can. Fresh air will clear your mind.

Make Good Use of Breaks

No matter how short the gaps are, listen to your body to do what you need to do. Whether it be taking a walk, laying in bed or reading- make use of the time you have to breathe.

Set Aside Time for Yourself

Most important of all- allow yourself to rest. Do not beat yourself up over what goes on in online school. Make the most of it- but when you have off days do not dwell. Set some time to do the things you love to do.

Overcoming Zoom fatigue is not easy. These tips are here to help you make the most of your time before, during and after. Take care of yourself first, and know you are not alone in this struggle.
