The Stress Fest that Hamline holds every year is one of the best parts of the semester. It is  always towards the end of a semester when finals are in full swing, and it’s always nice to take a step back from textbooks and laptops and relax for a bit.

What is it?

Stress Fest is an event where people are encouraged to relax and take a break from studying, while also learning tips for self care that can help throughout the school year and even outside of school. There are events like journaling, aromatherapy, meditation, massages, zumba and more. Plus, there are always free giveaways of items that help people combat stress, such as coloring books. It’s a really fun event that you can go to alone or with friends, and the chance to win a prize is always irresistible!

When is it?

The Stress Fest always takes place near finals time because that is when people need de-stressing the most. This is the time of the semester when final projects are due and classes are starting to wrap up, but early enough for people to  step away from studying for tests and finishing up projects. This year, the event is taking place on Dec. 12 from 4-5:30 p.m.. My tip is to show up early so you can get your name on the free massage list early.

Where is it?

This year the Stress Fest is taking place in the Anderson Forum, room 111, and on the third floor. Last year the activities were only in room 111 and the Forum, so this year they have clearly expanded what activities they are offering. The Stress Fest gets better every semester as they add to and refine the list of activities, so this year is bound to be great.

The Stress Fest is a free and fun event that all students are welcome to. There are lots of fun activities and useful tips that are offered, plus it’s a great way to take a break from studying and possibly win a prize.
