Five tests in one week? No thank you. Here are some ideas to help you stay calm during midterms:

Meditate or go on a walk

Sometimes you study for a long time, long enough to where the words in books become blurry. If you notice that you have not yet left the library by the time it gets dark outside, please try taking a break. Meditating can help relax some of the stress you carry when you study for a midterm. Going for a walk will also help by giving you some much needed fresh air. By taking a break, you will retain more information in the long run.

Listen to music

Music will also help with the dreaded feeling of stress. You can play some energetic music if you’re feeling tired, or some relaxing music if you’re feeling anxious. If you don’t like to listen to music when you study, you can even take a music break.

Study in a group

Studying alone isn’t always easy. You get distracted by Facebook and Instagram, and before you know it, two hours have passed without memorizing any of the information you need for midterms. If you study in a group, you will focus more on the class material since you won’t want to ruin the group’s progress. Even better, you will be able to ask each other questions if you get stuck.

Realize that a test grade will not determine your future

In the long run, tests in college will not determine your future success. Of course, you don’t want to fail out of all of your classes. But just try your best, and that is all you can do. If you find yourself feeling anxious about midterms, remind yourself to try your best and leave it at that.
