Whether you’re returning to campus or taking your first steps onto the panther pavement, there are so many things to prepare and plan for this school year. The beginning of fall semester is always the busiest and most exciting time of the school year.

Sometimes that excitement can get overwhelming and there’s a need to wind down. It’s a good thing Georgia State stands in the heart of Atlanta with many ways to blow off steam and relax on and off campus. Georgia State starts the fall semester with soccer and volleyball showdowns.  Whether you’re playing or are on the sidelines you can jump and scream your heart out while supporting your favorite teams. Georgia State football has begun at the University’s very own stadium this season. There are six home games and the anticipation is heightening for the new location. Panthers will riot in excitement for the football team to touchdown on the fresh field with fierceness.

If you aren’t one to chant then feel free to engage in campus athletics and recreation. The Touch the Earth program gives students an opportunity to test agility and blow off steam on local trips, kayaking, hiking, and so much more. The recreation center also takes personal challenges to its heights with sports clubs, Zumba classes and weekly lists of activities for everyone to fit into their schedule.

For the quiet and content, there are a lot of hiding spots for you to close your eyes or read a book in peace. On campus, Student Center East has cozy spaces for students to kick up their feet and relax in silence all day long. Before, between and after class you can clear your head and meditate on the second and third floor of the building before your next encounter. North of campus, Woodruff Park and Centennial Olympic Park are open for you to spread out and enjoy the sun and surrounding city. Midtown holds serene pubs and lounges as well as the High Museum of Arts. There are interactive and clear spots for you to sit or lay out and enjoy music and fresh air. There are a lot of other activities to explore when you want a bit of optimism in the midst of this school year. Find the one that fits you best to decompress for success this school year.
