If I pass you the aux and you don’t have Roddy Rich on your playlist then you will be told to walk to your destination, sis! … Ok, maybe not, but you will receive the side-eye. Roddy Rich, born Rodrick Wayne Moore Jr, is hands down one of the best new artists to grace the music arena. His hit single “The Box” is currently number one and has artists Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez shook as they watch their careers do the struggle walk and beg for streams.

His debut album Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial was released on December 6, 2019, and features verses from Gunna, Meek Mill, Lil Durk, and Ty Dolla $ign just to name a few. The album’s “Intro” and “God’s Eyes” will have you thinking about that come up you’ve been manifesting with their melancholy piano keys that gradually fade into a base thumping beat. My personal favorite from the album is “High Fashion”. It is definitely that song you turn on as you get ready for girl’s night or indulge in a little self-care. All 16 songs are ear worthy and possess a distinct sound that sets them apart from other recent music.

With over three million followers on Instagram, Roddy Rich’s fanbase ranges from the U.S. all the way to France and doesn’t appear to be staying stagnant. With his album at number one, it is predicted that he will only move forward and keep putting out heat all year long. This energy is what was needed to bring in the new decade, and if it is the foundation for this abundance filled time, then I am here for it!
