5 Professional Organizations Minority Women Should Consider Joining

While college can be a fun time to join social clubs, make friends and new memories, it’s never too early to start thinking about your professional life. The following organizations are great ways to network and kickstart your post graduate-life:

1. Association for Women in Mathematics

The Association for Women in Mathematics is a professional association that focuses on encouraging women and girls to study and pursue careers in mathematics and mathematical sciences. They also fight for equality and equal treatment in math departments around the country.

2. Phi Beta Lambda

Phi Beta Lambda is the college chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America. They are an organization that focuses on leadership development, academic competitions, educational programs, community service and so much more. With chapters on college campuses all over the country, Phi Beta Lambda-FBLA helps students gain a variety of professional experience from high school to their professional careers.

3. Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA)

The Public Relations Student Society of America is a professional organization that has different chapters on many college campuses. Their main goal is to enhance the education and professional network of their members. One of their goals is to launch careers after graduation in the public relations sector.

4. National Association of Black Accountants (NABA)

The National Association of Black Accountants is an association that addresses professional needs of their members and build leaders that shape the future of the accounting, finance, and information systems industries.

5. National Association of Black Engineers (NSBE)

The National Association of Black Engineers is an international association that is dedicated to the empowerment and support of Black people in STEM from grade school to professional careers. The organization is sponsored by many Fortune 500 and other reputable companies including Google, Microsoft, Northrop Grumman, Intel, Bayer and more.  NSBE has an exclusive network for scholarships that are offered to complete your education.
