Skillets are underutilized in the collegiate repertoire of cooking supplies. While many people are afraid of skillets’ propensity to rust , with the proper care your skillet will be around for a long time. And there are so many things you can cook in it! Grab a skillet and expand your horizons, we’re cooking with cast iron now.

1) Homey Mac and Cheese

I can feel my stomach flipping at the sight of this, and I can’t tell if it’s because it’s delicious or because I’m lactose intolerant.

2) Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie

What good is a skillet if you can’t make a cookie in it? Here’s a gluten free version if you need one.

3) Garlic Chicken Spanakopita

If you’d like to expand out of common skillet wares like pastas and cookies, this might be a good recipe to tackle.

4) Pan Pizza

A staple of skillets everywhere. And you don’t even have to knead it!

5) Rosemary, Pepper, and Lavender Bread

Written specifically for kitchen witches in mind (pagans who practice magic through cooking—it’s super interesting), this bread is delicious regardless of what religion you practice.

6) Cowboy Biscuits

Eat like the cowboys (supposedly) did!

7) Cast Iron Vegetable Stir Fry

If you’re going to keep making skillet cookies (and let’s face it, you will), you might as well make some vegetables in your skillet as well.

8) Eggplant Parm

A classic goodie with or without a skillet.

9) Tomato Cobbler with Cornmeal-Cheddar Biscuits

An interesting flavor combination that is worth a shot!

10) Cheesy Broccoli and Green Onion Quiche

Quiche is just pizza that went to boarding school.

Happy cooking!

She was elected "funniest in group" by her summer camp counselor when she was nine and has since spent the next eleven years trying to live up to the impossible weight of that title.
