5 Stress Relievers for College Midterms

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GCU chapter.

Midterms are a pain. Nothing says stress like a huge exam that counts for half of your grade…pshhh nah not stressful one bit.

But, I am here to say, stress doesn’t need to control you. You can battle stress with these helpful suggestions from a fellow college student:

  1. WORKOUT. I know this sounds like so much fun but it’s worth it! Wake up an hour earlier that you normally do and get to the gym. Try 15 min on the treadmill with an incline of 2.0 and a speed of 3.5. Warm up with a walk for 5 minutes and then go into a jog/run for 5 minutes. Cool down it down for 5 minutes. Repeat again, or switch to a different machine or weights. This super easy workout has a duration of only a half an hour! After, treat yourself with a yummy breakfast and start studying.
  1. LIMIT THE COFFEE, EAT FRUIT! Yes, I know, I said it. As a coffee addict, myself I know how hard this is. Coffee stirs up anxiety and sparks stress, instead try flavored black teas. Teas are a healthier option and still gives you that kick of caffeine. Another option is grabbing a fruit every time you want a cup of coffee. “An apple a day, keeps the midterm stress away”?  I promise it you will have less anxiety and feel much better.
  1. PRAY. Jesus is always there to take something off your shoulders if you just let him. (Also dance it out to worship music.)
  1. MAKE LISTS. Bullet points or numbered, sort your responsibilities for each class and start the ones that are due first.
  2.  DO WHAT YOU LOVE. In the midst of all the busy and stress, take some time to do something for fun. Watch your favorite episode of Friends, write in your journal about places you want to travel to, go for a walk or call a friend.

After doing these steps you’ll be ready college midterms like never before!
