The Importance of a Morning Routine

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FIU chapter.

Having a morning routine is a key component in setting your standard and mood for the next twenty-four hours. It is how you start your day and it will play a major impact on your attitude and mindset for the hours to come. We all live different lives, have different interests and obligations, not everyone’s morning routine will be the same but, it is important to start somewhere. Notice your daily morning habits and think about what you want to improve or incorporate to push you to become a better version of yourself.

For example, my morning routine typically looks like this:

  1. Wake up
  2. Brush my teeth
  3. Shower/ Get dressed
  4. Have a cup of tea
  5. Take vitamins
  6. Check my planner to see what I have to accomplish for the day
  7. Drink breakfast shake

Morning routines will help you become a successful individual in every aspect of your life. Not only will it build your momentum, but these routines will give you time to reflect and navigate ways to achieve your goals. Creating good habits and practicing organization will also decrease your stress levels.

Sometimes, I like to get up super early and go workout. Getting a morning workout in is a great way for me to set the tone for the day and feel motivated to be productive. If you’re someone who has been looking to get fit, but has had a hard time trying to fit it into your schedule, early mornings may be your best bet. Another perk is that the gym isn’t as busy compared to mid-day or evening times.

I know it’s not easy to wake up early for those who are not morning people or you’d rather get those extra thirty minutes of sleep in, but get a start on your day to improve your daily energy levels. You have the same twenty-four hours as everyone else, make yours count. It also takes twenty-one days to form a habit, make today your day 1.
