Some of us are born with perfect skin, but others (me) have to really work for it. No matter which category you fall into, it’s still super important to take care of your skin. Here are some tips that I have found helpful in making my skin look and feel as healthy as possible.

1. Always take your makeup off before you go to bed.

After a really long day, taking off makeup is the last thing any of us feel like doing, but it is so important to achieving healthy skin. Do whatever you need to do to make this as easy as possible; you can even try stashing a pack of makeup remover wipes on your dresser in case you don’t remember until you’re in bed!

2. Wash your face before you go to bed and as soon as you wake up.

If you’re always taking all your makeup off before bed, you’re definitely taking a step in the right direction, but it is also important to use a face wash after you remove your makeup to get off any dirt or oil that may be left. Also, remember to wash your face in the morning to remove any oil or sweat that may have built up overnight.

3. Don’t use extremely hot water to wash your face.

A lot of us have been told that washing your face with hot water opens up your pores and helps you get a more thorough, deep clean. However, hot water actually dries out and irritates your face, so go for a lukewarm temperature instead.

4. Use moisturizer, no matter what your skin type is.

Even if you have oily skin, using a moisturizer is vital to the health of your skin. Find one you love that works with your skin type, and make sure to moisturize both morning and night!

5. Use SPF!

Having SPF in your morning moisturizer is so important to protect your skin from the harmful effects of the sun and prevent any long-term damage. If you skip the SPF, your skin will age so much faster, and you increase your risk for skin cancer, so don’t forget this step!

6. Wash your sheets and towels often.

It can be easy to get a little lax when it comes to washing your sheets and towels, but so much oil, sweat, and dirt gets on these items every time you lay on/use them. They get dirty extremely quickly, and this can affect your skin if you’re not vigilant with your laundry. I recommend washing your towels every 3 uses and your sheets once every 2 weeks or so (and don’t forget your pillowcases!).

Good skincare can seem like a lot of work at first, but most of it just involves getting into good habits. I hope you find these tips helpful on your journey to beautiful, healthy skin!
