The Best Spots to Relax in Boston

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

I love Boston and am often the first one to boast about all the amazing things that this city has to offer. But the one thing that I do miss about my suburban life back home (and there isn’t much to miss) is the peace and quiet that accompanies it. Especially during this hectic spring semester, there have been times that I have felt the need to escape the crowds of people that always seem to surround me; in the dorms, on the streets, EVERYWHERE! Luckily for me, Boston offers a variety of places where you can escape to and feel not quite as claustrophobic.

1. The Public Garden

The amazing thing about this beautifully well-kept park in Boston is that it is in a very touristy area, will consistently be full of people, and yet, still manages to provide a peaceful place to relax and enjoy the scenery. Find a bench or bring a blanket and enjoy the beautiful lake. Just watch out for the ducks!

2. The Thinking Cup

While this may not seem like the quietest of places, any one of the Thinking Cup locations is a great place to relax. Get a cup of coffee and bring a book. All of the people surrounding you just melt away.

3. The Esplanade

This particular destination is especially relaxing at night, when the city skyline illuminates the Charles. Sitting on the dock on a warm fall night, overlooking the city we all love, is as picturesque as a scene from a movie. This spot is perfectly relaxing when you are on your own, but is also a great spot for a date.

While the city and the energy that accompanies it is a feeling unlike any other, a little peace and quiet can sometimes do us good. So if you feel yourself getting stressed or overwhelmed, take a break, find a quiet spot and just live in the moment.
