Music easily encompasses all of our emotions. There is something so special and so powerful about lyrics we can relate to. I know it makes me feel a little less alone when I turn on a song that says everything I feel I can’t.

For me and so many others right now, Dermot Kennedy’s ‘Better Days’ is a single that inspires hope. Trending on TikTok, the sound has given users the chance to express their journeys, their struggles and growth.

This is the song I play when I need a reminder of how far I’ve come. There is something so special about these lyrics — they make me believe in a better future. Despite the dark moments, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

While ‘Better Days’ is not explicitly about anxiety, the lyrics remind us to be patient. The journey to self-love and growth is not one that happens over night, but with each day and effort things really do get better.

He sings:

I know you’ve been hurtin

Waitin’ on a train that just won’t come

The rain, it ain’t permanent

And soon, we’ll be dancin’ in the sun

These words are just so beautiful. What a reminder to stay positive and focus on you and your own journey. Your time will come.

So for now, take a moment to yourself. Close your eyes. Turn on ‘Better Days’ and reflect. Look at all that’s ahead for you.
