Co-Op Couture: Event Preview

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Drexel chapter.

When: March 13th at 6:45pmWhere: MacAllister Hall, 6th Floor, City View RoomSuggested Dress: Collegiette Chic – A classy, fun, and fashionable look that makes you feel spectacular. This isn’t mandatory of course, we all have busy lives and it is totally fine to come as you are.

Her Campus Drexel is hosting an event like nothing the student body has seen before. With co-op being a huge part of our education here at Drexel, our advisors make sure we’re ready for interviews and our classes make sure we don’t look like complete idiots when we enter our chosen field. But what about something we’ll need every day, like a co-op appropriate wardrobe? Since work appropriate clothing isn’t as uniform and consistent for everyone, it can be harder to offer valuable suggestions to students  Our Co-op Couture Fashion Show hopes to provide more inspiration and options for work-appropriate clothing options that vary drastically from a basic black blazer, a white button-up, and black slacks.

At our event we’ll have a photo booth station and in-house photographers ready to take pictures throughout the event of you and your friends looking fabulous. There will also be a table with free food, along with tons of staff on hand ready to answer any questions you might have about our event and organization in general. We’re always looking for new members so don’t be afraid to let our staff know you’d like to know more about what we do!

Local vendors have signed on to help us make this event truly spectacular. Bradamant will be loaning us some essential pieces for our models to work on the runway during our outfit demonstration. Adolf Biecker will be on hand to do our models hair as well as provide work appropriate hair styling tips. Smak Parlour has generously donated a gift card and LOFT has provided us with a coupon for a Style Night to raffle off at the end of the night. Thanks to our amazing team at Her Campus HQ, our Smak Parlour gift card and LOFT coupon raffle baskets will each be accompanied by Completely Bare Hair Removal Kits, Not Your Mother’s Purifying Conditioner, SABRE Pepper Gel, LUNA bars in Chocolate Peppermint Stick and Chocolate Dipped Coconut flavors, and every collegiette’s kryptonite, Chipotle BOGO Coupons. Our third basket will include everything listed but without the gifts from LOFT/Smak Parlour.

The event will begin at 7:00 pm with a panel including members from Drexel’s Society of Women Engineers, Drexel’s Women in Business, Associate Clinical Professor of Business Jodi Cataline, and a hair stylist from Adolf Biecker to discuss their tips on all things co-op. Following the panel will be an outfit demonstration (fashion show) offering ideas for office wear, ranging from casual to business professional clothing. All of our models are Drexel students who graciously volunteered to strut their stuff while our MC describes what they’re wearing and how to recreate it using items in your own closet. Every attendee will receive one raffle ticket, and by liking our Facebook page, following us on twitter, or signing up for our weekly Newsletter will reward you with an extra entry!

In addition to all these great goodies, we’ll be having a sorority competition with some great incentives. Whichever sorority has the most members attend will win a Spotlight Month on our site. This would include interviewing four members of the chapter’s Exec Board for our Campus Celebrity articles and interviewing four other members for Campus Cutie articles. A blog post will be written to highlight the sorority’s main philanthropy, talking about the cause itself, along with how the sorority raises money for the cause throughout the year. Last but not least, a feature article will be written talking about the awesome reasons to join their sorority, ranging from a funny “Day in the Life” article or “X Reasons ___ Sorority Rocks”.

We can’t wait to see you Friday, March 13th in MacAllister Hall’s 6th floor City View Lounge at 6:45 pm for a wonderful night of fashion and fun! Make sure to RSVP to our Facebook event or reserve your spot on eventbrite!

Along with living the city life, she takes an active interest in street style, putting together puzzles and binge-watching her current Netflix obsession. She actually calls Montana her true home so now you can say you know that someone actually lives there ;). When she's in Philly, you can find her in Center City scouring the racks of thrift stores, Old Navy, and H&M if she's not on campus enjoying the multiple food trucks or catching up on the readings she put off until the last day.
