From the Halloween festivities in October to the huge parties on New Years Eve in January and every holiday that falls in between, you could imagine how some of us could fall out of our daily routine after a chaotic three months. The holidays are a wonderful time, with all the festivities, gifts, decorations parties and holiday shopping. However along with all the festivities there could the lack of motivation, stress, and a whole lot of fatty foods. It can be hard to focus all your time and energy into keeping up with a healthy mind and body.

Here are a few easy steps you can follow to maintain a happy, healthy mind and body during the holidays

Stay Hydrated

Water is always the answer to EVERYTHING. It’s always very important to make sure you are consistently drinking water throughout your day, but during the colder times of the year it always seems so much easier to curl up with some hot cocoa. Staying hydrated can help maintain energy levels/focus, regulate digestion, as well as keeping your skin nice are vibrant. Before a holiday party drink a few glasses of water to help suppress your hungry, your body tends to think it is hungrier than it actually is. We all know everyone’s mouth starts to water as soon as they see all the counter tops in the kitchen are filled with all our favorite foods!

Stick to Your Daily Routine

During the holidays, we are all aware of how hard it can be to stay focused on your goals and stick to all the unrealistic plans you’ve made for yourself because let’s face it, there is just not enough time in the day. But just because it’s the holiday season doesn’t mean you have to lose sight of your everyday routine. Whatever your goals consist of, whether it is a fitness goal or finishing a number of books, the key is to plan accordingly. If you know you’re going to endure upon a long busy day or week that is more than okay but be sure to not completely loose site of future goals. It might help to write out your daily or even weekly plans to help you map out when you have free time to do other stuff. 

Enjoy, but in Moderation

There are way too many yummy goodies being passed around during the holidays, December tends to favor eggnog. Stores end up being filled with eggnog flavored ice cream, cookies, pie, before you know  it you end up feeling like you’re drowning in eggnog. The holidays are all about parties, don’t restrict yourself from having a good time, go out there and spend quality time with your friends and family. Moderation is key, remember that.
