Strong is the New Skinny

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CMU chapter.

Confucius once said, “The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential… These are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence.”

And it’s true, especially when it comes to fitness. The phrase “strong is the new skinny” has been floating around for a while. It’s appearing in fitness campaigns and promoting fitness and well-being in women. The campaign uses inspirational quotes and images to show women in control of their health and bodies—strong, healthy bodies that women haven’t starved themselves for, but have worked for.

There are women across America looking to be strong.  And the motivation for being strong has to come from within:  inner motivation to exercise, eat right, and get into the best shape of your life.

Here are some quotes to get you motivated for working out:

1. Success is never wondering “What if…?”

2. Strong is beautiful.

3. Demand more of yourself.

4. Fit is not a destination. It is a way of life.

Where will you start?
