If you have been scrolling through TikTok looking for Halloween costume inspiration, then you probably noticed that all of the costumes have one essential element: a basic corset top. Want to be Cinderella? Throw on a blue skirt, crown, and blue corset. Want to be a fairy? Throw on a skirt, wings, and corset top. Black cat? Black pants, cat ears, and a black corset. Angel? White skirt, angel wings, halo, and white corset top. Many college girls turn to these kinds of TikTok posts for their costume inspiration. Then, when Halloween comes around, college campuses are filled with girls all wearing the same corset top. Corset tops are cute and look hot on everyone (men included), but if you are like me and think choosing to wear a corset top on Halloween has become a little basic, then here are 13 Halloween costumes for you.

1. SWAT Officer

This costume is for the girly’s who don’t want to wear a corset top but do want to show off their sexy curves. All you need is a solid black catsuit, a printer to print out a SWAT badge, and a black cap. You need to print out two SWAT badges, tape one onto your black catsuit and one onto your hat, so that everyone knows you are part of a fierce SWAT team.

2. 80s

If you’ve been spending too much money at Chipotle and don’t have the funds to buy a Halloween costume, then an 80s fit is the perfect costume for you. All you have to do is wear neon or bright clothes, bonus points for neon pink leg warmers.

3. Luau

Luau is a classic frat party theme and perfect if you are attending college someplace warm. Throw on that bikini, grab a lei, and add a Hawaiian shirt if you prefer to be a little more covered (or are in a colder place). This costume is perfect for those spending Halloween in a hot city, or if you are a beach lover and want to feel like you’re still at the beach.

4. Men in Black

Men in Black is a goated movie, and it also makes a goated Halloween costume. For this one, you’ll need a black skirt or black pants, a white dress shirt, and an MIB badge. If you love sci-fi movies then this is an easy costume for you to love. Try printing out your own MIB badge to save extra money too. And don’t forget the black sunglasses!

5. Devil

A lot of the time, college girls will wear a red corset top and red skirt with their demon horns to dress as a devil. Instead of the corset top, try wearing a red dress instead. This will elevate your devil costume by making it more comfortable and more practical on the dance floor. No more worrying that your corset top is sliding down if you have straps on your dress!

6. College Merch

I know this sounds even more basic than a corset top. But if you are going absolutely broke at college, then just thrown on your college merch for Halloween. This costume is absolutely free because I’m sure you have already been gifted college merch. Even though you might get some annoyed looks, at least your wallet is saved!

7. Flapper

Are you looking for a classier costume? Then buy a flapper dress, watch some makeup tutorials, and grab a pearl necklace. Spend Halloween weekend in the Roaring 20s, before the Great Depression of classes hits again.

8. Grandma

Go for the laughs with this one. Borrow some clothes from your grandparents or hit up a thrift store to find some comfy and cozy grandma looks. Don’t forget that grey haired wing and you will be sure to turn heads. Count those costume compliments as everyone comments on your bold and amusing costume. Not to mention you’ll be super comfy in your grandma outfit.

9. Vampire

Maybe you go to college someplace colder, or you want to cover up this Halloween. Focus on your facial makeup with this one and buy some fake vampire fangs. As long as you add a black vampire cloak on top of whatever layers you have on and flash those fangs, then people will recognize your classic Halloween costume: a blood-sucking vampire.

10. Camo

No one will be able to spot you in this costume: Camo! Wear as much or as little camo as you want, as long as you have camo on you then you will not stand out with this one. Cause nobody will be able to spot you!

11. Mad SCientist

Stuck in chemistry lab this semester? Well, put that lab coat to good use and wear it this Halloween! Maybe throw on those lab goggles too. Spike up and tease your hair or spice up your face with lots of colorful makeup to prove just how mad of a scientist you are!

12. Cowgirl

Want an easy to do and low-key Halloween costume, then just buy a cowboy hat. This costume also gives you lots of creative freedom with what you want to wear, so find something from your closet and throw on that hat and strut through Halloween as an intimidating Cowgirl!

13. Yourself

If you have not been impressed by any of my ideas so far, then take a second and think of your own costume! At the end of the day, what matters most is that you are comfortable and love your Halloween costume. So, whether that is by wearing a corset top or not, have a fun and safe Halloween!
