I do not believe in such a concept as “new year, new me.” In my opinion, it leads one to push their goals back and set them aside until the new year begins. I learned this year that it is never too late or too early to begin making the changes you want in your life.

I began to go to the gym this year in July but had to stop because of college. I wouldn’t have time because of extracurricular activities and classes. I did not want to attend the school gym because the thought of that gives me anxiety. So, I decided I would just begin to go to my gym until next year, 2022. However, I thought about how much progress I would have made by the next year if I just tried my best to carve out some time throughout the week so I could attend and I did! It was the best decision I have made this year.

“I learned this year that it is never too late or too early to begin making the changes you want in your life.”

I don’t believe you need to wait for the new year to make the changes you want to see in your life. I know when I have postponed my goals for the new year, I forget about these goals and they don’t even begin to be put into action. Start making these changes as soon as possible. I know we all have goals in mind and when you read this start making these goals happen!

My name is Wendy and I am a Sociology and Spanish major at California Lutheran University. I have lived in Ventura County all my life, making me a huge fan of the beach. I love to read on my down time, spend time with friends and workout. My love for writing began during quarantine where I found it to be a great way to express myself! I hope you enjoy my articles!
