Have you ever spent time watching movies about an idyllic college life and wishing you could have the same for yourself? Dreaming of a time in which you have amazing grades, the best of friends, and are the leader of many organizations? Dream no further, because the Law of Attraction could be the next step to achieving your goals.

There is a very good chance you are already practicing the Law of Attraction in your everyday lifestyle. While seemingly highly scientific and complex, the Law of Attraction is actually a form of philosophy that developed during the New Thought movement, a campaign focused on believing in things greater than ourselves. This law centers itself around the belief that positive or negative thoughts can bring positive or negative experiences into someone’s life. Therefore, how you act towards others or in specific situations determines the energy that will be brought back to you.

The Law of attraction has recently become heavily popularized in social media, especially on platforms such as Youtube or TikTok where tutorials explain how you can adapt it yourself.  Before applying the law, there are three key steps that must be kept in mind.

3 key steps:

  1. Ask for what you want

    1. The oldest rule in the book is that “if you don’t try, you’ll never know.” This step plays directly off of that mindset. You should ask for something that you want from the universe, and try not to focus on what you don’t want. This step involves digging deep into who you truly are, and deciding what your real goals are. Whether you want the outcome to be positive or negative, you should act accordingly.

  2. Believe in what you want, and act upon it

    1.  This step entails putting a great deal of trust in first yourself, and then in the hands of others. You must be confident that you can radiate whatever energy you wish to receive, and believe that others will help you to achieve this. Once you are confident, you must take action.

  3. Finally get what you have asked for by matching the energy you gave off

    1. The final step of the Law of Attraction is possibly the most straightforward and focuses more on the action side. If you want your result to be positive, then you must incorporate similar attributes into what you do, such as by creating emotions like joy, appreciation, or even gratitude. Your inward thoughts are a large factor in how you showcase your emotions.

There are countless ways that you can use the Law of Attraction in your daily life, and one of the places to start could be in your life around campus. It is very easy to get caught up in trying to accomplish many things at once in college, and the best way to combat this is to decide what your main goals are (i.e. good grades), and try to focus your attention on that. If your goal is to raise your grades, the best way to apply the Law of Attraction would be to go into an exam or graded activity with the attitude that you will pass it, or even better, that you will get an A. Without the fear of failing, you may be more relaxed and motivated when preparing to take the test, and another result would be a better understanding of the material. The same can be said for improving one’s social life or getting your dream job after college. By approaching each aspect of your day with an open attitude, the Law of Attraction will help you to achieve great things!
