Almost everyone has an addiction, whether it’s coffee, going to the gym, eating out, or even feeling the need to drink soda or juice with every meal. I think these harmless habits — in moderation — make us unique and sprinkle flavor into our lives.

My harmless addiction is crepes. If you aren’t familiar with what a crepe is, let me introduce you to this popular French dessert. A crepe is a thin, delicate pancake often topped with sweet or savory fixings. Fruits and Nutella, for example, make for an excellent sweet crepe, while vegetables and cheeses make a delicious savory crepe.

Now that you know what a crepe is, you can learn a lot more about why they’ve made me who I am today. I’m not just referring to the fact that you might’ve guessed I’m a fanatic for chocolate desserts, but also that I grew up in a diverse community with unique foods and cultures.

I have tried several desserts in my lifetime, but crepes have been my all-time favorite. Crepes have always reminded me of home — my parents bought me my very first crepe and I quickly fell in love with the dessert.

I think everyone has an addiction that can reveal more about them than simply what’s on the surface.

All my friends say that if they know one thing about me, it’s that I love crepes. It’s more than a craving; it’s more than a sweet treat. It’s an addiction. I can’t make it through the week without having a crepe. Everything and anything can be an addiction as long as your body, mind, and soul crave it beyond normal measures. If you want to indulge my addiction, these are my favorite local creperies in Boston:

If you want something local and award-winning, try Crispy Crepes Café located at 714 Commonwealth Avenue. Another perfect spot to enjoy a crepe is Phinista Café, located at 1092 Commonwealth Ave. If you’re ever in Brookline, try Paris Creperie at 278 Harvard Street.

So if you’re looking for a new study spot, a cute place to go try some desserts with friends, or you’re simply looking to try something new, check out these local crepe spots for a new savory adventure.
