This week’s campus celeb, Henry Johnson, a native of LA, the land of celebrities, studies computer science as a sophomore in CAS. Some of his many hobbies include discovering new music, watching movies and writing his own screenplays, Mixed Martial Arts, solving riddles (thanks to his Sherlock obsession), and even acting and modeling.

This past summer, Henry was able to put both his hobbies and professional interests to use at an internship for Ad Hoc Labs, Inc., where he did Public Relations and acted for Burner, the mobile app. For his PR responsibilities, he wrote all of the Android support articles for the app’s blog and over half of the iPhone support articles. As for the acting portion of his internship, Henry worked to promote Burner on the app’s Instagram and Vine. Although he mostly took part in the creative side of Burner, he was also exposed to its actual creation. Not everyday do you get a behind the scenes look at what goes into the development of the apps that many collegiettes use every day!

For those collegiettes who have not yet heard of Burner, it is a free app for iPhones and Androids that allows you to obtain a phone number that you can use instead of your own carrier distributed number to hide your identity. As a user you can have as many numbers as you want, with any area code you would like. The first number is free with the app download, but any additional numbers come with a small fee. According to Henry, “Burner is good for craigslist, dating, keeping professional life separate, pranking, or really anything you can think of.” The main function of the app is to maintain your privacy and to keep you safe- definitely useful for us Boston University collegiettes!

Make sure to check out the Burner App and view some samples of Henry’s work!
