The Best Tips to Stay Calm Before Your LSAT

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

After weeks (or months), of studying it’s finally here, the night before your LSAT. Even though the exam has been the destination you’re striving for the day before your exam can feel terrifying. Hopefully, these tips will help you to stay calm and grounded in the 24 hours before your exam.

STOP STU(DYING)

Like now, I mean it! The LSAT isn’t something you can cram for, and studying when you’re nervous can cause you to make careless mistakes, making you even more nervous than before. You’ve already put the work in and you’re not going to make any significant progress the night before so, be proud of yourself for all of your hard work.

Don’t eat any new foods or foods you might be sensitive to.

Tonight is not the night to eat anything that has a significant risk of food poisoning. If you’re sensitive to dairy, the night before your LSAT is probably not the night to indulge in pizza or ice cream. It seems obvious, but imagine how awful it would be taking the test when you’re sick–especially because you only get one 15 minute snack.

Do something that motivates you.

Maybe this means sleeping in a T-shirt from your dream law school or looking up your legal idols like RBG, Sandra Day O’Connor, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan. Remind yourself why you’re taking the test in the first place.

Pack your bag in preparation.

Pack a clear plastic bag with your snack, water, pencils, your ticket, and ID the night before. You don’t want to have to stress about it in the morning.

Get some rest!

The night before the test can be the most stressful part of the LSAT process. Just close your eyes, breathe, and be proud of yourself you’re almost there!

These tips will help you calm your nerves and ace the LSAT! Now, we could all get a 179 like Elle Woods–right?
