2019 Will Be A Year to Heal

For the past few years, I have devoted my time and energy to getting into college and moving to the US. Many of my friends tell me that I’m the “most hardworking person they know,” and although I appreciate it, I also aspire to be more than that.

This year, I seek happiness and peace in my heart. It might not be something that will reflect in my GPA or resume, but it will reflect on my well-being and relationships, with myself and with others. I want 2019 to be the year that I heal from the past and get on the journey of self-discovery.

In 2019, I will find healthy ways to cope and take care of myself better. I will stop wasting my energy on toxic people. I will go to therapy, take burning hot baths, work out, communicate my feelings and be kind to myself.

In 2019, I will find out who I am outside of my struggles. I will watch movies just for fun, read poetry, go to museums, dance for hours, eat mindfully, try drawing and painting, sign up for clubs not to make my resume shine but to bring true happiness to my soul. I will stop setting limits to my creativity, whether it be in terms of writing or fashion.

In 2019, I will explore the world. I will go on trips with friends. I will take the bus to a new city, and watch pine trees covered in snow as I listen to my favorite songs.

In 2019, I will give myself time to think and room to breathe. I will lay on the beach at night and look at the stars before closing my eyes and focusing on the sound of the waves. I will take walks in the mountains and let the cold freeze my body until I can’t feel my cheeks anymore.

From my heart to yours, I wish you a very happy New Year. May 2019 bring you pure joy and peace to your bright soul.
