I Got “The Five Minute Journal” and Here’s Why You Should Too!

Let’s face it, with our fast-paced lives, we could all use a little bit more time spent slowing down to self-reflect and welcome more positivity into our lives. This is where gratitude comes in. By now between Instagram, Tik-Tok, and Pinterest, you’ve probably heard of “The Five Minute Journal.” Well, after receiving it for Christmas from my sister, I decided to give it a try…and I’ve loved it! Here’s how it works and why I recommend you check it out too!

How it works: Intelligent Change’s “The Five Minute Journal,” presents itself as “the simplest, most effective thing you can do every day to be happier,” and I stand by it. The way it works is, you write in it twice a day- once in the morning and then again at night. So it’s the first thing you do in the morning when you wake up, and the last thing you do at night before bed. In the morning, the journal prompts you to write down:

  • “I am grateful for…”
  • 1.
  • 2.
  • 3.
  • “What would make today great?”
  • 1.
  • 2.
  • 3.
  • Daily affirmations. I am…”

Then, at end right before bed, it prompts you to write down:

  • “3 Amazing things that happened today”
  • 1.
  • 2.
  • 3.

“How could I have made today even better?”
