The new semester can bring dread, anxiety, and stress. While it can feel like there’s nothing you can do about all the homework, assignments, and classes, there are some things you can do to help yourself cope with the back-to-school scaries.

A big part of my life involves journaling. Whether you’re jotting down all the things on your to-do list, or writing about the frustrating day you’ve had, or you just need to write some affirmations about yourself, journaling is a great way to practice self care and mindfulness. Something I’ve been loving lately is writing down some mantras to get myself in the right headspace for the semester. Writing these down always make me feel better in the moment after a long day, and when I’m out and feeling stressed out I like repeating these phrases to help myself stay grounded. Here are some mantras to try out yourself this semester!

You got this.

You wouldn’t be here if you couldn’t do it.

There is no one else like you in the world. Own it.

You have so much to love about yourself, and there is so much about you for others to love.

Everything will be okay.

One bad test, one bad outfit, and one bad day is not the end of the world.

This feels like a big deal right now, but it won’t matter this much a week from now.

You are your biggest critic.

What is your favorite back-to-school mantra?
