This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Belmont chapter.

You don’t have to go on a backpacking trip across Europe to change your life, even though that’s exactly what I want to do whenever I feel like I’m stuck in a rut. There’s easier ways to enhance your life, one habit at a time.

Exercise:

Get outside! Get your blood pumping! Go for a walk around campus or your apartment complex. Go for a hike, find a trail, or find a dog and walk it!

Drink ya water:

Even if you’re not drinking the entire amount of recommended water every day (guilty), even one bottle of water is better than none. If you want to take it a step further, try cutting out soda or juice when you go out—it’s cheaper and easier to stay hydrated.

Keep a Journal:

Y’all already know I’m a fan of journaling. For a more in-depth explanation, check out my last article here!

Do Something For You Everyday:

College students are busy. Our days are full of work, class, extra-curricular activities, volunteer work, internships, etc. Even in the middle of all the crazy, try and make time for yourself every day. Get up 15 minutes early and make a cup of coffee, watch an episode of your favorite show, watch the sunset, or even make a playlist of your favorite songs to listen to on the drive to school or work.

Try New Things:

Go to that new club meeting, pick up a new hobby, try new food, go places by yourself. The list is endless. Pushing yourself out of your comfort zone is the best way to get yourself out of your routine rut.

Cut Back Toxic Relationships

I can’t stress enough how much better you’ll feel once you start surrounding yourself with positivity. Your relationship with someone should never feel like a burden, both romantically and platonically. You deserve the best, girl.

Whatever you decide to do, take it one step at a time. Even if it’s going backpacking across a foreign country (and if it is, take me with you).
