A nice cool breeze and some calm music to listen to; what better environment to practice yoga in? As the weather starts to get a little colder, a few more layers may be necessary, but the best time to practice yoga is right as the sun is setting. It is during this time that you can focus on nature and truly be at peace with your mind and body. Practicing yoga allows you to give your brain a break and take a step away from reality. For me, calm music is the key to a meaningful and refreshing yoga session. Here are some of my favorite songs to listen to!

Sing It Again

Slow and calming, this song is perfect for getting yourself into the yoga mood. This song is less about the words and more about the feeling it gives off. Something about this song just makes me want to sway back and forth and forget about the world.

I Got You

A slow and calming instrumental backs a calming voice. As the guitar plays, Jack Johnson’s words are supportive and calming. A common phrase repeated in this song is “I got everything, I got you”. In times of uncertainty, this is an affirmation that I am happy to hear.

One More Day

This flowy and this uplifting song make me feel loved even when the world feels like it is spinning in a million different directions. The Wood Brothers focus on how the lows can turn into the highs with just “one more day”.

Imagine

“Living for today” and in the moment is something that we all have to be very mindful about right now. As our lives lead us down many different paths at the same time, it is important to focus on where we are at this particular moment. This song helps me center myself and do just that.

Hand on Your Heart

With a little bit more of an upbeat background instrumental, this song is perfect for finishing off your yoga session. Focusing on love and moving on, this song comments on the realities of romance and how no relationship is easy to move on from. Helping to find comfort in heartbreak and loss, is just what this song does for me.

Even if you do not practice yoga, I hope these songs help to provide you some comfort and allow you to escape from reality even if it is only for a few minutes.
