Graduating can be a very exciting and rewarding thing, but it can also be quite daunting as you step out of and into a new chapter of life. As such, I asked all of my recently graduated and alumni friends to give any about-to-be graduates advice on the next stage of their life – Here’s what they had to say!
- Don’t feel bad about not getting your dream job straight away – it may take time!
- Be ready to change jobs if you don’t like the one you go into
- Your skills (and degree) are valid, don’t let people tell you differently
- Don’t compare yourself to others, you are on your own path
- Do a postgraduate or masters, but only if you are super passionate about the course/ subject
- Check your credit and look at your finances
- The job market has not fully recovered from covid so go easy on yourself
- When applying for jobs, ask if you think you’d be there. No job is worth your happiness
- Prep all your paperwork. Initiation is paperwork
- Try to enjoy the summer after graduation without thinking too hard about -life-
- Start looking for early grad jobs. The deadline applications are often earlier than you think.
