25 Life Crises Only Seniors Will Understand

Of all the roles you experience during your time in school, becoming a senior is one of the most memorable. In high school, it was a time of excitement and anticipation, as we discovered which path we would take toward our college careers. Though we were sad to leave, the thought of being independent from our parents and making our own rules was just too exhilarating to pass up.

College, on the other hand, is kind of a different story. Yes, you still get to experience the perks of being the oldest, but you also have to deal with the fact that your days as a carefree college student are numbered. Your years of education will soon be coming to an end, leaving you with nothing but a degree and a resume you pray will be able to get you a decent job in a city you can afford. You’re constantly torn between making the most of your final year and planning for the future, and the pressures of each are enough to make any senior question her sanity. Here are 25 crises we know every senior is dealing with right now.

1. Scheduling the final semester of classes

2. Preparing for interviews

3. Perfecting the art of networking

4. Figuring out where you’re going to live next year

5. Balancing bar tabs with future planning expenses

6. Deciding how to answer the question, “So what do you want to do?”

7. Trading in sweatpants for suits

8. Realizing that LinkedIn connections are actually more important than Instagram likes

9. Untagging every picture of yourself with a red Solo cup on social media

10. Debating what it would be like to move back in with mom and dad after graduation

11. Buying your cap and gown

12. Seeing freshmen at parties and feeling like a total grandma

13. Not being able to recover from a hangover as easily as you used to

14. Learning how to follow a budget and balance a checkbook

15. Scheduling appointments by yourself because your parents refuse to do it anymore

16. Having virtually no need for a student ID

17. Living miles from the dorms

18. Staying in at night to send out job applications

19. Crying inside every time you’re asked what year you are

20. Being envious of all freshmen

21. Finding yourself having adult conversations about your future at parties

22. Seeing old friends from high school getting engaged on Facebook

23. Using your free time to search apartment listings in your dream city

24. Creating a “before graduation” bucket list

25. Having a nervous breakdown every time you realize how many days you have left
