Your favorite English teacher and gym teacher are getting married, and if the latest sources are to be believed, that wedding might be happening at Madison Square Garden. On Aug. 26, 2025, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement via an Instagram post and Swifties have been in full detective mode ever since, searching for clues about the coupleâs wedding plans. Although Iâd like to think Swift would get married âin paper rings,â some reports have fans convinced that the couple plans to tie the knot at Madison Square Garden on July 3.
Although Kelce and Swift have not confirmed anything about the wedding venue or location, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani may have just added fuel to the speculation by possibly confirming the rumor.Â
While discussing the cityâs major summer events during a press briefing, Mamdani appeared to casually mention âTaylor Swiftâs wedding,â alongside other major New York City celebrations.
âWe are used to big events, and we are incredibly excited for this one. We know it coincides with the Knicksâs [NBA] Finals runâ Mamdani said. âWe know it coincides with July 4, America 250, Taylor Swiftâs wedding â all happening at the same time â and we are so excited to welcome the world here.â
He also wished Swift and Kelce a âlovely wedding,â and said he wouldnât be there â instead, he said heâll spend his time listening to âOnly the Youngâ at home (a song heâs said embodies his mayoral campaign). A Madison Square Garden wedding is pretty iconic for Swift, especially with how much we know she loves New York City. Now Iâm trying to figure out how sheâs going to decorate the stadium for a wedding.Â
While Mamdaniâs comments have sent Swifties into a frenzy, neither Swift nor Kelce have announced a wedding date or location. Renting a private event at Madison Square Garden can cost about $1 million a day. InStyle estimates the wedding may cost the couple up to $20 million overall.
The rumours that the wedding will happen on July 3 are still up in the air, but fans speculate that date because Madison Square Garden has no public events occurring during that weekend. Still, a Madison Square Garden wouldnât be completely out of character for Swift. Swift has a long history of showing her love of New York City in her songs like âWelcome to New Yorkâ and âLover.â And if the wedding venue rumors are true, I wonder if friendship bracelets will be part of the dress code.Â
