This SZA Song Is Trending On TikTok & It’s Not Even From Her New Album

All hail queen SZA! She first blessed us with her debut album Ctrl in 2017, which consisted of hit songs like “Broken Clocks” and “Love Galore.” After a long five years, SZA lovers (like myself) were itching to get their hands on a new album that will become their personality for weeks. SZA finally answered our wishes and dropped her second album, SOS, on Dec. 9.

The album did not disappoint, with star-studded features from Phoebe Bridgers, Travis Scott, and Don Toliver. As well as an abundance of songs to fixate on during all the emotions you might be experiencing this holiday season. Social media users are eating up the SOS songs, but one song at the forefront of trends isn’t even on the album. Despite SZA creating a stellar album worthy of every trend known to man, TikTokers are choosing to circulate a SZA song on the app that has nothing to do with her new album or even a released single for that matter. From showing off celebrity crushes to creating dances, TikTokers have started a new trend with a SZA song — and it’s actually from a Saturday Night Live (SNL) skit.

The song all started as a joke about cuffing season.

On Dec. 3, SNL kicked off the holiday season with Keke Palmer as the host and SZA as the musical guest star (an iconic duo, IMO). SNL loves to give us funny yet iconic songs in their skits and with a multi-talented duo leading the show, there was no question a bop would come out of that show — and it did. SNL loves to poke fun at timely events and what is more relevant with the holidays right around the corner than cuffing season?

In true SZA fashion, a love song was made about cuffing season and who you might long for to keep you warm. At last, “Big Boys” was born. Though it might be from a skit, the song is insanely catchy and TikTok ran with it.

“Big Boys” is the trending anthem to show off celeb (and personal) crushes.

As SZA so gracefully sang, “It’s cuffing season and all the girls are leavin’ to get a big boy.” With the audio having over 100,000 TikTok videos, it seems these lyrics stand true as TikTokers are posting montages of their favorite “big boy” in question. Some TikTokers are opting to show off their celebrity crushes. One TikToker made an edit of Jim Hopper from Stranger Things as participation in the trend. Another TikToker showed her appreciation for Kevin James, aka Paul Blart the Mall Cop. Other users are using the song to show who they are spending their cuffing season with this year.

The skit started an addicting TikTok dance trend.

Would it really be a viral song without a TikTok dance? Not only does “Big Boys” have catchy lyrics, but it also has an irresistible beat. TikToker @biggirlnamedabby was fast to hop on the growing song to show a dance she created to it — and it slays. Her original video has over 1 million views, and it has quickly become the newest dance trend on the app.

With the odd timing of the trend so close to the release of her album, fans were convinced “Big Boys” was a new single on SOS, but it’s in fact just another treasure that SNL has gifted us. SZA, this is my formal proposal to have “Big Boys” on your next album, thank you.
