Spotify’s ‘Devil Wears Prada 2’ Playlist Gives You A Character Based On Your Listening Habits

Alright everyone, gird your loins! With the release of the long-awaited The Devil Wears Prada sequel, we’re stepping back into the ever-glamorous, fast-paced world of Runway Magazine — where cerulean sweaters are never just cerulean, and every coffee order could make or break your career. And now, as the film makes its stylish return to the cultural conversation, Spotify is here to help you determine which of the characters you’re most like based on your music taste. Now, this is actually groundbreaking.

In collaboration with 20th Century Studios, Spotify unveiled the official The Devil Wears Prada 2 playlist, which contains songs from the original cult-classic and new tracks from the sequel. (Don’t ask me how many times I’ve listened to DOECHII and Lady Gaga’s “Runway,” the answer is yes). Upon opening the playlist, Spotify will reveal which character each user is on the playlist’s cover — Andy, Miranda, Emily, or Nigel — based on how their listening habits align with each character’s individual musical identity. So yes, your hyper-specific daylists are saying more about you than you think. Maybe you’re giving Andy Sachs, quietly leveling up behind the scenes. Or perhaps you’re full-on Miranda Priestley — cool, commanding, and always coming out on top.

There’s something especially fitting about letting Spotify do the judging here, considering The Devil Wears Prada has always been about being seen, whether you like it or not. As Miranda Priestly so chillingly reminds us, “Everybody wants this. Everybody wants to be us.” And now, apparently, your playlists are your audition. The songs you blast on your commute, the late-night spirals, the “I’m reinventing myself” anthems — they all say something. This isn’t just about taste. It’s about identity, ambition, and the version of yourself you’re curating (intentionally or not). Very Runway, very high stakes, and yes… very groundbreaking.

And if there’s one thing this whole experience proves, it’s that you might not be as off the grid as you think. Because, as Miranda Priestly would put it, “You think this has nothing to do with you.” But oh, it absolutely does. Whether you land on Andy Sachs, Emily Charlton, or Nigel Kipling, there’s something undeniably fun (and slightly humbling) about seeing your music taste reflected back at you through such iconic characters. It turns your everyday listening habits into something cinematic — like you’ve been building your own personal soundtrack all along, you just needed Runway to put a name to it.
