What Did Selena Gomez Say To Taylor Swift At The Golden Globes? Fans Think Kylie & Timothée Were Involved

Updated Published

Grab a cup and saucer, because boy, do I have some Golden Globes tea for you! The 2024 Golden Globe Awards celebrated the biggest achievements in television and cinema, so naturally, some of television and cinema’s biggest stars were in attendance. And, because they’re just like us, celebrities love to take pictures with each other during commercial breaks — unless Kylie Jenner has a say in it. Camera footage from the event on Jan. 7 shows Selena Gomez seemingly (key word: seemingly) telling her besties Taylor Swift and Keleigh Teller that Jenner didn’t let her take a picture with Timothée Chalamet.

Lip readers on the internet believe Gomez says in the video, “I asked for a picture with him and she said no.” Swift’s jaw drops, and Teller asks, “With Timothée?” Gomez then nods her head. The TV coverage didn’t include audio, but a video taken by someone in the audience clearly records Teller name-dropping Chalamet.

Let’s connect the dots between all the major players here. Gomez attended the Golden Globes on behalf of her TV comedy-mystery show Only Murders in the Building. Swift’s Eras Tour movie was nominated for the brand-new Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Award, and she brought Teller as her date. Wonka earned Chalamet a nom for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy Film. He and his rumored girlfriend Kylie Jenner made their award show debut at the Globes.

Chalamet and Jenner have kept their relationship pretty private, but the camera caught them packing on the PDA all night. The public seems split on whether the relationship is real or just for PR, but believers and doubters alike have taken to social media to share their LOL-worthy reactions to the couple (and Sel’s tea-spilling sesh!).

Gomez wanting a picture with Chalamet isn’t totally random; they’ve actually worked together before! The actors co-starred in Woody Allen’s 2019 rom-com A Rainy Day in New York. Gomez seems very much in love with her new boyfriend Benny Blanco, so I’d have to assume her wanting a pic with Chalamet was totally platonic.

So, did Jenner actually shut down her request?

According to Chalamet, the internet’s got it all wrong. On Jan. 9, TMZ caught up with the Wonka star in L.A. to ask if Jenner and Gomez are on good terms, to which Chalamet replied, “Yeah, of course.” The outlet then followed up with, “Do Selena and Kylie have any beef? Is that outrageous?” to which Timmy quickly said, “No, no. [They’re] all good.”

Gomez also set the record straight on what she *actually* said during that viral moment. In the comments under an E! News Instagram post alleging that she was gossiping about Kylie and Timmy, Gomez wrote, “Noooooo I told Taylor about two of my friends who hooked up. Not that that’s anyone business.”

There you have it: There’s no beef between Jenner and Gomez. It seems the entire situation was blown out of proportion, which isn’t surprising, TBH. We’ll never really know what Selena told Taylor, but one thing’s for sure: the tea was piping hot.
