Whether you love them or hate them, something that’s always going to be a hot topic in Hollywood is celebrity relationships. One of the most popular celebrity couples of our generation was Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, who had a very fiery and public relationship. They were together from 2010-2018 and had a romance that was filled with many ups and downs. Since calling it quits, both Gomez and Bieber have moved on. The “Baby” singer is now married to model Hailey Bieber. Gomez, on the other hand, dated The Weeknd back in 2017 and is now seeing producer Benny Blanco, who just so happens to be Bieber’s longtime friend and collaborator.
Gomez officially announced her relationship with Blanco on Dec. 7, commenting “Facts” under an Instagram post that read, “Selena Gomez Seemingly Confirms That She Is in a Relationship.” She went on to reply to fan comments under the post with, “He is my absolute everything in my heart,” as well as “then why has he been the best thing that’s ever happened to me. The end.”
Despite how happy Gomez is in this relationship, fans are apprehensive about Blanco. Not long after this hard launch, a video of Blanco supposedly shading Gomez resurfaced. The video is from an interview Blanco did on The Zach Sang Show back in 2018, where he was talking about his friendship with Bieber. “Justin’s not one of those cookie-cutter pop artists. Like you know, they’re like, ‘This is my new single and here’s my makeup line,’” Blanco said. “And he’s like, Justin’s like, ‘Yo, I have a pimple and I have anxiety today.’ He’s always been real like that.”
Of course, fans had a lot to say about Gomez and Blanco’s relationship after seeing this video resurface online.
Fans also began commenting on the same post Gomez confirmed her relationship with Blanco under, weighing in on this new romance. One of the comments said, “You’re just corny omg that man was shading you years ago.”
Gomez made it clear that while she loves her fans, she’s not going to let what they say have an impact on her. “If you actually care about me. This is my happiest,” she replied to a fan. “If you don’t feel free to say whatever you want. But I will never allow your words to guide my life. Ever. I’m done. If you can’t accept me at my happiest then don’t be in [my] life at all.”
Clearly, fans were caught off guard by the announcement of Gomez and Blanco dating and thought it was their duty to warn the singer. However, it seems that Gomez isn’t worried and is happy with her love life!
