Season 1 of the hit Prime Video series Off Campus — based on Elle Kennedy’s Off-Campus book series — premiered back in May, and naturally, I can’t stop thinking about it. As a longtime fan of the books, it’s been so much fun watching and rewatching these characters come to life on screen. With Halloween approaching, it feels like the perfect time to take some inspiration from the series. From your favorite hockey players to the show’s own memorable costume moments, there are plenty of ways to bring a little Off Campus into your Halloween plans — especially if you’re looking for a group costume. And the best part? You can make these costumes as simple or as elaborate as you want.
And luckily, you don’t necessarily have to DIY your entire look. Spirit Halloween recently launched an Off Campus collection, providing fans a quick and easy way to recreate some of the show’s most recognizable looks. Here are some Off Campus group Halloween costume ideas to recreate this year.
- Core Four Briar University Hockey Players

Prime Video If you have a group of four, this one is tooooo easy. Everyone can pick their favorite player from the group of players the series centers around, including Garrett Graham, John Logan, Dean Di Laurentis, and John Tucker. The Hockey Shop, an actual hockey equipment retailer, happens to have an Off Campus collection featuring Briar jerseys of the four with their names and numbers. Add some hockey gear to your look, and you’re all set. If you happen to play hockey or know someone who does, you could use an actual hockey jersey or gear as the base for a DIY costume.
You don’t have to stop at just the core players, either. If you have a bigger group — or if you’re just a fan of Elle Kennedy’s expanded universe — you could dress up as some of the other hockey players, too. Personally, my picks would be Hunter Davenport (who appears in the latter part of the season), or even Jake Connelly, who is actually a rival player to the Briar Hockey team (and will hopefully make an appearance on screen in the future).
- Briar U Fans or Students

The one is especially easy if you have a larger group because everyone can put their own spin on it. To dress up as a fan or as a Briar U student, just pick your favorite hockey player and wear their jersey, or mix and match fun pieces like Briar U crop tops, hats, and varsity jackets. There is some seriously adorable merch on sites like Etsy. Spirit Halloween’s Off Campus collection makes this option easier, too: You can grab the Briar University Costume Kit ($40) featuring a cropped jersey with Garrett Graham’s name on the back and a matching beanie. - Briar U Cheerleading Team

This one might be a little bit more familiar to book fans, but watchers of the show can absolutely get in on this, too. Fans of the show haven’t met the Briar U Cheerleading team yet, but they play a big role in Elle Kennedy’s expanded Off-Campus book universe — specifically in the book the Dixon Rule (the Campus Diaries spinoff book series). You can dress up as specific cheerleaders from the book, or keep it simple and sport a classic cheerleader look. This one might require a little more DIY, but there’s already some great inspiration out there. If you happen to be a cheerleader or know a cheerleader with an available uniform, that could give you a good foundation for DIYing.Â
- The Characters’ Dynamic Duo Costumes

Prime Video If you want a costume that fans of the show will immediately recognize, look no further than the costume party episode, “The Practice.” This episode is basically a goldmine for a group costume. While the characters paired off in “dynamic duos” for their costumes, you can make it even more fun with a bigger group. Have everyone pick their favorite duo from the episode and pair off accordingly. You could even make a game out of it: Choose which half of a costume you want to be, then find a friend who wants to complete the duo. Notable costumes include: Allie and Sean as J. Lo and Ben Affleck, Dean and Beau as Maverick and Goose from Top Gun, Garrett and Hannah as a magician and its bunny (my fave), and Logan and Tucker as “the birds and the bees.”
And you don’t necessarily have to stick to the original pairings, either. You can mix and match the costumes you like. The fun is in bringing some of these recognizable costumes together to be one big Off Campus group costume. - The Core Four Girls

This one requires a little more work. TV series viewers have met Hannah Wells and Allie Hayes, but haven’t met the other half of their friend group quite yet: Grace Ivers and Sabrina James. If you haven’t gotten around to the books, you might be a little lost here. But if you’ve read the Off-Campus book series in full, or just want to get ahead of the show, this is your chance to bring the core four girls to life. The key is to give each character a few recognizable details that hint at who they are rather than trying to perfectly recreate an outfit (cause that won’t get you much recognition). For Hannah, lean into her songwriting background with a guitar or other-music related accessories. You could also add a pink bike helmet as a nod to her Season 1 look. For Allie, you could carry around a script as a fun reference to her acting background. For Grace and Sabina, to avoid spoilers, I’ll just leave you with this: read the books!Â
