Yes, Lotte World From ‘XO, Kitty’ Is A Real Amusement Park

Spoiler warning: Spoilers for Season 3 of XO, Kitty follow. Class is officially back in session at KISS! Season 3 of XO, Kitty — a spinoff of the popular To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before film series — premiered on Netflix on April 2, 2026. While Season 3 sees the return of Kitty Song-Covey and her chaotic teenage love life, it also introduces viewers to new faces and fresh drama as Kitty and her friends enter their senior year. The drama especially ramps up during their senior class trip to Lotte World — which is actually a real amusement park.

In XO, Kitty Season 3, Kitty adds a visit to Lotte World to her senior year bucket list in hopes of feeling more connected with her mom, who visited the amusement park with Yuri’s mom as a KISS student. When Kitty’s friends are disappointed in their planned senior class trip — a visit to a museum they find boring — she seizes the opportunity to suggest a trip to Lotte World instead. A simple day at an amusement park turns out to be much more, as sparks fly between some couples and tensions rise between others — classic XO, Kitty style.

While XO, Kitty is known for bringing drama to our TV screens, the show’s depiction of Lotte World is closely accurate to what the amusement park is like in real life. In an interview with Brit + Co., Anna Cathcart, who plays Kitty, revealed that the show was filmed on the actual grounds of Lotte World. “[Filming at] Lotte World was crazy,” she said. “Getting to be in a closed-down amusement park overnight, for many nights in a row… felt like a once-in-a-lifetime situation.”

XO, Kitty may have captured the real attractions, sights, and culture of Lotte World, but there’s still a lot more to know about the amusement park that will make your XO, Kitty viewing experience even better. Curious to know more about this vacation hotspot? Here’s everything you need to know about Lotte World, a major filming spot in XO, Kitty Season 3.

Lotte World Is More Than Just A Theme Park

Lotte World opened in Seoul, South Korea, in 1989 and remains a popular entertainment and vacation spot today. In XO, Kitty season 3, Kitty and her friends are shown exploring the indoor and outdoor theme parks at Lotte World, but there’s much more to this tourist attraction than roller coasters and bumper cars. Lotte World also consists of a hotel, shopping malls, theatres, a Korean folk museum, an aquarium, and an observation tower. The observation tower, Lotte World Tower, can be seen in the B-roll of several episodes of XO, Kitty throughout the series.

In XO, Kitty Season 3, Jiwon and Alex ditch their regular clothes at Lotte World and wear Korean school uniforms instead — an ode to them taking a break from teaching and finally having fun like their students. This isn’t just a cute detail for the show: School uniforms are a normal part of the dress code at Lotte World. Much like wearing Mickey Mouse ears at Disneyland, wearing school uniforms at Lotte World is a way for guests to get into the theme park spirit. Lotte World has a school-uniform rental shop where guests can rent vests, skirts, jackets, and accessories to complete the look.

The French Revolution Roller Coaster Is A Staple Lotte World Attraction

The plot of the Lotte World episode in XO, Kitty season 3 revolves around Kitty facing her fears — so it’s no surprise that one of Lotte World’s most thrilling roller coasters makes an appearance. Located at the indoor theme park, the French Revolution is Lotte World’s signature roller coaster, gathering long lines of thrill-seekers with its loops and turns. In the show, Kitty works up the courage to ride the French Revolution with Yuri, and they recreate a photo their moms took on the ride as teenagers.

While TV magic makes it look like Kitty and her friends only rode the French Revolution once, they actually had to ride it multiple times for filming. In an interview with Young Entertainment, Peter Thurnwald, who plays Alex, described the chaos of filming on a real roller coaster. “I think the cast had to do it a couple of times, but the extras were being sent on over and over again,” he said. “It sounds fun in theory… but we were doing this stuff at 3 in the morning.”
