In the past, the main headliners for popular cups varied from Yeti to Hydro Flask, but the Stanley cup took the spotlight in 2023, and since then, Stanley cup memes have literally taken over my social media timelines.
The Stanley cup’s popularity has surged this past year with the help of Gen Z and TikTok influencers who have praised the product and shown off their Stanley collections — similar to the Hydro Flask phenomenon back in 2019. Now, Stanley cups are in demand with all demographics, making them even more difficult to purchase, since they are usually low in stock for certain colors and styles. The most desirable Stanley cup style that everyone is reaching for is the 40-ounce Quencher H2.0, due to its size, color range, and perfect shape to fit in any cup holder.
Since the Stanley cup is now seen almost everywhere you look, the internet has been having fun creating clever and hilarious memes surrounding its popularity. Many memes have been circulating over the past few months, but they’ve really hit a new high after the wild response to Target’s Valentine’s Day Stanley cups that dropped on Dec. 31, 2023. The promotion included two Stanley Cups in limited-edition colors of red and hot pink, which had Stanley lovers running through Target to claim one. The promotion even had people in Target fighting over and stealing Stanley cups from each other — creating more content for meme creators.
Even though many people online have criticized Stanley owners for their dedication to the brand, others have created harmless jokes that anybody — even Stanley Cup users — can find amusing.
