You Don’t Want To Miss These New Shows & Movies Dropping In February

Ah, the month of love. The time when heart decorations are in full bloom, and everyone’s scrambling to figure out the best gifts to give their S.O. or friends before Feb. 14. While I may be painfully reminded of the season and seeking comfort in relatable Valentine’s Day memes, I simply adore romance, and this month I’ve become obsessed with finding a good show or movie to fall in love with.

While there are a couple of new romance-themed films to get you in the mood for Valentine’s Day, there are a variety of seasons, show premieres, and movies for avid viewers, including psychological thrillers, spin-offs of beloved shows, action, and documentaries. So pull up a chair, break out your fave Valentine’s Day-themed candy, get comfortable, and start binge-watching these new February 2023 releases you can stream on Netflix, Disney+, and more.

Netflix

Freeridge Season 1 (Feb. 2)

Set immediately after the events of the television show On My Block, Freeridge follows a completely new cast of characters in the beloved town of the same name. The show centers around sisters Gloria and Ines, as well as their friends Demi and Cameron, as they unleash a curse that changes their lives forever. So, not ideal for typical high school students. If you want to see a new generation of the core four, teenage drama, and a bit of mystery, then definitely add this series to your watch list on Feb. 2.

You Season 4 (Feb. 9)

It’s time to revisit Joe Goldberg but in a completely new setting! After the tumultuous events of season 3, Joe flees to hide out in England under the alias Jonathan Moore. There, he roams the London streets with his murderous tendencies at large, and—who could forget that he became a professor? It’s time to find out where this journey will go in Season 4.

Your Place Or Mine (Feb. 10)

Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher in a Netflix rom-com? Need I say more? It’s a must-see this February season. Debbie (Reese Witherspoon) and Peter (Ashton Kutcher) have been life-long friends, and when Peter suggests switching homes so that he can watch over Debbie’s son in L.A while she stays at his place in New York, they learn a lot more about each other than they bargained for.

Love is Blind: After the Altar Season 3 (Feb. 10)

Brennon & Alex and Colleen & Matt were two couples who made it past the Altar in the third season of Love is Blind. The new episodes will follow them as they navigate their relationship dynamics and life as a married couple, as well as show old flames rekindling among the previous cast members and whether they will find true love this time around.

Perfect Match (Feb. 14)

Perfect Match is another romance-centered reality show that will air on Valentine’s Day (perfect timing). The dating competition follows couples as they compete in various challenges in the hopes of gaining power and defeating their opponents by demonstrating their compatibility. If you’re unsure about the rules of this competition, Her Campus has you covered.

A Girl and an Astronaut (Feb. 17)

Need a little romance to get you through this month of love? While there isn’t much yet to be found about the details of this Polish film, the official Netflix synopsis states, “An astronaut’s return after a 30-year disappearance rekindles a lost love and sparks interest from a corporation determined to learn why he hasn’t aged.” Everyone adores star-crossed lovers (get it?), and this is not your typical love story, thanks to a sci-fi twist.

Outer Banks Season 3 (Feb. 23)

Our beloved characters are back for a third season of the show, nearly two years after the story of Outer Banks continued in Season 2. The season left us with Sarah and John B. surviving the stormy journey and the Pogues losing the gold and leaving Outer Banks. Season 3 follows them now stranded on a deserted island and finding solace in their temporary home. But, as the official synopsis suggests, things quickly go wrong for John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope, JJ, and Cleo when they find themselves in a race for the treasure.

Peacock

Bel-Air Season 2 (Feb. 23)

After a tense reunion with his long-lost father, Will leaves Bel-Air in the first season and is only found by his friend Jazz, who encourages him to decide whether he wants to stay in Bel-Air or go elsewhere. The trailer of the second season shows Will exploring new investments in himself and getting into his fair share of trouble while in L.A. Expect to see cameos from the O.G Fresh Prince of Bel-Air cast and more drama this time around.

Disney+

J-hope in the Box (Feb. 17)

The documentary follows the progression of J-Hope of BTS’s solo album and first solo concert for Lollapalooza, along with his album listening party, according to the official trailer. The documentary is expected to show the kind of music J-Hope makes away from the group, as well as him forging his own identity in the music world. Pause everything because I need to listen to “More” and “Arson” a few more times before the release date.

Theaters

Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania (Feb. 17)

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamnia follows the events of the previous film in the franchise and features our fave superheroes. This time, Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and The Wasp (Hope van Dyne) explore the Quantum Realm and embark on a new adventure, facing Kang the Conqueror. If you’re hoping for a witty and action-packed marvel this February, you should get your tickets ASAP.
