This Is How Netflix’s Newest Dating Show, ‘The Perfect Match,’ Works

Whether you like it or not, we’re living in the era of reality television. However, after the dramatic, back-to-back double-whammy of Love Is Blind and Too Hot To Handle, Netflix has fallen into a bit of a lull when it comes to messy relationship reality TV. But, on Jan. 17, Netflix announced a new show that’s set to release on Valentine’s Day 2023 — and if you’re thirsty for some good ‘ole fashioned reality TV mess… consider yourself parched.

The Perfect Match is Netflix’s brand-new reality dating show, hosted by (you guessed it!) Nick Lachey. Premiering on Feb. 14, think of The Perfect Match as the Avengers of Netflix dating shows: it unites fan favorites, and villains, from some of the streaming platform’s most popular reality programs. On The Perfect Match, you can expect to see cast members from The Ultimatum, Love Is Blind, Too Hot To Handle, Twentysomethings, Selling Tampa, The Circle, Sexy Beasts, and The Mole. To do what, exactly? Find love. Duh.

While the internet has been freaking out about some of the reoccurring cast members (Bartise, I shudder at the thought), a lot of reality sleuths are wondering what the actual point of the show is. If you’re in the dark, don’t worry. Here’s how The Perfect Match works.

What Are Rules Of The Perfect Match?

In pure reality dating fashion, The Perfect Match just screams “messy!” Like most dating shows, The Perfect Match takes place in a stunning tropical villa, and is full of reality stars looking for love (real motive, TBD). With singles hitting it off left and right, and forming relationships, the most compatible couples will play matchmaker and bring the drama by breaking up other, less-compatible couples and sending them on dates with brand-new singles that they’ll invite to the villa. Um… yeah. This is going to be glorious.

There isn’t a ton of information on the show’s location, challenges, and drama, but I’ll be sure to update you when I know more. Until then, pass the popcorn, babe. This is entertainment at its finest.
