5 ‘Bottoms’ Halloween Costume Ideas That’ll Make You The Star Of The Party

Bottoms is, in my humble opinion, the funniest movie of 2023, which means it’s definitely Halloween costume-worthy. Now that the film is out on streaming services, you can watch Bottoms from home and get endless inspiration for what’s sure to be your best Halloween costume yet. Not only will your costume be unique, but the coolest people (again, IMHO!) will surely recognize which character you are.

Ayo Edebiri and Rachel Sennott made their iconic characters, Josie and PJ, come to life so well on screen. They’re the perfect bestie costume. Whether you’re wearing a bestie, group, or solo costume, you’ll kill it if you try one of these Bottoms costumes for Halloween 2023.

If you’re really dedicated, you can even go from day to night and wear the character’s school outfits to class and their party outfits to your Halloween event. Whatever you choose to wear, you’ll definitely be remembered. Honor the queer comedy of the summer by wearing a Bottoms-inspired Halloween costume this fall.

Bestie Costume: Josie & PJ

You and your bestie would slay as Josie and PJ this year. The dynamic duo has a simple yet recognizable look. Fans on TikTok are already obsessing over these Long Sleeve Rugby Polo Shirts ($20) from Target. They look like they were taken right out of the character’s closets. You can also keep and wear these shirts throughout fall and winter.

Solo costume: Coach G

If you support women, then you should be Coach G for Halloween. (IYKYK.) Marshawn Lynch’s funny club advisor character keeps it chill, usually sporting tracksuits. You can pick up this Track Jacket ($30) and these Track Pants ($35) from H&M. Pair your set with white sneakers, a gold chain, and a whistle to finish the look. And just like that, you’re everyone’s favorite feminist.

Group Costume: Ski Mask Scene

This was one of the funniest scenes in the movie. It’s also an easy last-minute costume idea. All you really need is a black ski mask and black clothes. You can also wear these black Juicy Couture OG Big Bling Velour Track Pants ($99) to get Brittany’s look (played by Kaia Gerber). It’s a plus if you or one of your friends have a van for you to drive around in. Just don’t actually blow someone’s car up — that’s Hazel’s job.

Group Costume: Bottoms Movie Poster

Everyone loves an iconic movie poster. Get eight of your friends and recreate the Bottoms artwork. The items the characters are wearing are easy to replicate. You and your friends probably already have many items like football jerseys, track pants, and pink dresses. It’s a group costume idea that’s definitely Instagram-worthy.

Bestie, Solo, or Group Costume: Bloody Cheerleaders

This is the big, bloody, final fight scene. You can rock this costume solo, with a friend, or even in a group. Wear a red, white, and blue cheerleader costume like this one from Amazon ($20) over a white long-sleeve turtleneck. Make sure to cover yourself in blood, too. If you want to channel Brittany, wear your hair in cute space buns. Don’t forget the classic hip-thrust cheer.
