Petula Philp

Temple '25

Hi! I'm Petula Philp, and I am an undergraduate journalism major in my last semester at Temple as a senior. I am a Health writer for HER Campus this Fall semester! I am someone who, in high school, created a club called “Self-care” in order to promote women’s self care and it’s importance to my peers as well as younger audiences. I focused on the importance of mental health as a young woman because being on top of it helps it to not take over us. Health to me is not only physical wellness, but mental and overall wellness. Practices that we can take to make our lives better are always priority. I am hoping to push stories that open our eyes to some of the taboo expectations we are meant to adhere to as women in our current society and how to grow from these things as we evolve while simultaneously breaking away from social “norms.” I have been a journalism major since freshman year, I combined my curiosity with my love for writing and found a career that fits for me. Aside from my professional life in writing, I also enjoy to compose music. I songwrite and sing on my free time and that is one of the things that has been my greatest motivator and passion in life. I have loved music as long as I have lived and I will continue to. Knowing as much as I can and sharing it with others in the most digestible way applies to my personal and professional life. Whether it be music, my current new topic obsession, or very important social issues, everyone around me is going to hear about it. Take a look at some of my writings if you want somewhat of an insight into my mind. <3
