Care/of: An Honest Review

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Youngstown chapter.

One of my all-time favorite YouTubers is Kelsey Kreppel.  I watch her videos religiously and drop whatever I’m doing whenever I receive an upload notification.  Several months ago, one of her sponsors was Care/of.  I was immediately intrigued by the oh-so-cute, personalized packaging and had to do some research.

Upon googling the company, I was immediately greeted with a green button that says “take the quiz.”  Naturally, I clicked the button and took the quiz!  Right after, my results were presented with colorful fonts and research-based explanations.  I was prescribed magnesium, fish oil, astaxanthin, iron, ashwagandha, vitamin D, and vitamin C.  I have now officially finished all 30 packs from my first order.  Here’s my honest review of the company and the products I tried.

I must admit: I’m not the best pill taker.  I struggled to swallow more than one vitamin at a time, and most days had to go one by one.  Some pills – especially vitamin C and fish oil – were incredibly large in size and required extra concentration to successfully gulp down with water.  These vitamins also left a bizarre aftertaste that took several minutes to subside.  Week after week, I reflected upon whether or not I felt any different.  I do not believe that these vitamins added or subtracted any health benefits from my life.  I didn’t feel more awake or less stressed like I was hoping magnesium and ashwagandha would induce.  I didn’t feel like the fish oil was helping provide moisture to my dry, post-winter skin.

While I wasn’t a huge fan of the daily vitamins, I absolutely adored the melatonin packets (called “Dream Team”) and the vitamin C packets (called “Pocket Protector”).  The flavor of both powders was delightful and consumable without water.  The melatonin dosage was just enough to make me sleepy within the projected half-hour window.  I proceeded to sleep like a baby and consistently woke up feeling refreshed.

The free app allows you to track your daily vitamin consumption with ease.  Every 4-5 days, you earn a set number of carrots, which can later be redeemed on future orders for vitamins and other products.  Overall, this is a cool company.  If you’re as curious as I was, consider giving them a try.

Disclaimer from Care/of: These products are for adults only.  Consult a physician if pregnant/nursing, taking medications, or have a medical condition.  Keep out of reach of children.  Vitamins are packaged in a shared facility with Egg, Soy, and Salmon following current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
