The Moon

Everyone is a little wiser when He’s in the sky

Everyone is a little deeper

A little more philosophical

As if their high school sociology lectures did stick

They waited somewhere

Buried under years of more immediate information

layers of dirt only He removes

My favorite conversations

The hardest conversations

The deepest conversations

They happen when He is in the sky

When He’s shining

It’s as if He carries the wisdom

As if He holds all the answers for the world

As if He chooses to hold onto them all day

As if He gives them only to those who wait

But that’s only if He likes you

Get on His bad side and you’ll know

You’ll know how the night never ends

You’ll know how loneliness feels

You’ll know the hurt

The pain

The fear

Because you get on His bad side

Well, He’s lonely too

So He shows you the night

Shows you the overthinking

Shows you the dark

Shows you what goes on in the dark

If He has to see it

He wants you to see it too

He wants you to see the things He can’t ever forget

He is wise

He has seen

He is the Moon.
