As the VMA’s, the MET gala and New York fashion week close out, this past week has highlighted what trends will be in rotation this season. With each fall/winter, fashion evolves into the new comings that creatives think up for styling. To keep our closets and creative presence alive and with the times, here are some trends that are the moment this fall!

1. Chunky heeled/boots (bonus points if leather)

Bringing back the edge, the platform is back and better than ever. The look is commonly paired with a corresponding all-black outfit, but this autumn the staple is being used to elevate a simple look with the accent on the foot. This classic staple has been rocked in a range of settings like the goth aesthetic, the Woodstock era and now again with a fresh slate this fall season. How will you style these bad boys with your closet?

2. Quirky colored knitted sweaters

Fall is often associated with neutrals and nature-inspired colors like browns, greens and burnt oranges but this year’s fall fashion is changing things up. Quirky knitwear is coming in this season to shake things up, bring an “oomph” to your wardrobe and turn heads. Whether with a kooky pattern or a pop of color, knitwear brings both your best fashion foot forward and the perfect piece for cool weather.

3. Tailored suit sets

This next style is my personal favorite: the tailored chic moment. Either in a skirt- or pant-styled look, the tailored set is perfect for the ultimate power boss look. Although I’ve always loved a pleated pant, this look gives the balance of relaxed yet ready to strut a runway if need be. To be even more extra, you can play around with the texture and type of cloth of the suit. From silks, wool or smooth linens, the options are endless!

4. patterned two-piece sets

Patterned two-piece sets have taken the plate with the most standout piece this fall. Falling into more of a comfy-athleisure, this trend is more of a stand-alone outfit moment in the sense that the statement piece is the clothing itself. No particular crazy shoes, jewelry, etc., are usually paired with this look as the statement itself is the outlandishness of the set. Gotta keep it fresh, so might as well go all out!

5. Vibrant stand out pieces

The last trend is the tame version of #2, keeping the kook right at your doorstep. A good pop of color brings the same zest to your outfit as a crazy pattern or fabric. This fall season particularly has welcomed the use of bright colors, like cyan, vibrant green, and hot pinks channeling back to the fine times of the 70s. Because adding some flair to your closet with some pigment never killed anybody!

So, this autumn break out from your comfort zone and try one of these new trends because you never know, maybe it’ll become a staple fashion item for you!
