Kick It By Eliza and Her Campus UMass Amherst Cardio Kickboxing Marathon!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

Get a last minute toning session in before Spring Break and join Her Campus UMass Amherst and Eliza Shirazi of Kick It By Eliza for a Cardio Kickboxing Marathon on Saturday, March 1st at 11:00am in the Student Union Ballroom! Tickets will be $5 at the door.

The purpose of this event is to bring together the UMass community to raise money for Room to Read, an award-winning non-profit organization for improving literacy and gender equality in education in the developing world.

“The mission of every kick-a-thon is to give the power of fitness while simultaneously bringing awareness to public health/social issues. This partnership with Her Campus is exciting because they bring UMass the best of the best in all areas of collegiate life. I am hoping this powerful collaboration will raise enough funds for Room to Read to give a scholarship to a girl in a developing country so she can be given the gift of education,” says Eliza Shirazi, founder of Kick It By Eliza.

“To achieve this goal, we focus on two areas where we believe we can have the greatest impact: literacy and gender equality in education.  We work in collaboration with communities and local governments across Asia and Africa to develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children, and support girls to complete secondary school with the life skills they’ll need to succeed in school and beyond.” – Room to Read

We will have lots of exciting sponsors including Runa, who will be providing kickers with clean bottled energy.

“Runa’s mission is to improve livelihoods for indigenous farmers in the Amazon. We believe people everywhere can benefit from the bounty of the rainforest without destroying it.” – Runa

Additionally, the UMass ASOS representatives will be there giving out tons of ASOS products!

“ASOS is a global online fashion and beauty retailer selling over 65,000 branded and own-label products to fashion forward twenty-somethings through our website, asos.com. We ship, for free, to 237 countries and territories from our 1.1 million square foot global distribution centre in the UK.” – ASOS

Want to win a gift card from Kaohs, an awesome new LA-based swimwear company? They will be there!

“Kaohs swimwear is inspired by the skate, boho, and surf lifestyle that two California locals, Tess Hamilton and Ali Hoffmann, grew up in. Pursuing a career in fashion, Tess and Ali met at FIDM where they had an instant connection through their love of all things beach. Inspired and zealous, the young entrepreneurs have shaped a brand that combines rad detail, flattering cuts, and rare style. The two use their background to establish an effortless yet bold bikini line that encompasses beachside vibes combined with Los Angeles’ street style.” – Kaohs

Sticking with our Spring Break theme, The Orchid Boutique will also be giving out promo codes and gift cards as well.

“The Orchid Boutique™ is the ultimate luxury swimwear destination for trendy and style-savvy women. We scour the world in hopes to find and provide the most exclusive swimwear for our fashion-forward friends.” – The Orchid Boutique

We will have a variety of door prizes from other sponsors as well such as Wheatberry Bakery & Cafe – Farm Fresh Food and Pretty Please Nail Polish.

Be sure to RSVP on Facebook for more info and chances to win free tickets, hope see you there!
