There was a wonderful turnout for Emmanuel’s Big Man on Campus event this past Friday night. Seventeen of Emmanuel’s finest men took the stage with hopes of claiming the title from last year’s winner, Tony Cibelli. Needless to say, they did not disappoint.
The event started out with a dance, performed by all of the contestants, some of which had surprisingly good moves – possible prospects for Magic Mike? The contestants continued to wow the judges with their formal attire, sports uniforms, ability to answer an array of questions, and of course their various talents. Between lip syncing, bottle flipping, food eating, dancing, and various readings, there was a little bit of entertainment for everyone.
As the talent portion came to a close, however, there was definitely one clear winner. David Tracy, a senior here at EC, had the audience swooning over his acoustic talents and undeniable voice. With consistent cheers and remarks from his supportive friends, David was later announced the winner of Big Man on Campus. Congrats!
The contestants put on one hell of a show and made for an entertaining night. The real mission behind this event was to raise $1,500 in honor of Dr. J, a beloved professor who recently passed away due to cancer this year. In Emmanuel’s usual fashion, the event exceeded the initial goal, raising over $2,000 for a very deserving cause.
Thank you to everyone who showed their support and especially the guys who left it all out on the stage. It was a great night filled with lots of laughs, hugs, and handsome people. We can’t wait to see who steps up to compete next year!
