5 Valentine’s Day Dates for Long Distance Couples

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

Although some of us may be lucky enough to have a valentine this year, we may not be lucky enough to actually be able to spend it with them. If your V-Day date happens to go to a different school or live in a different part of the country, or world, here’s five ways to celebrate with them!

1. Carve time out of your day to have a “dinner date”

Pick a time on V-Day that you and your honey can have dinner over FaceTime or Skype. Keep it simple by just grabbing some pizza and talking about your day, or get more creative with it. Pick a meal to cook together while over video call, play some music, light some candles, or watch a movie together!

2. Send a Valentine’s Day care package

Mail your bae a package full of love to make up for not being able to give them a gift in person. Stock it with chocolates, love notes, food, a stuffed animal and anything else personal and thoughtful you can think of!

3. Set up a make-up date, but take it to the next level

Instead of just setting up a regular Valentine’s dinner with your significant other when you see them next, do something a little more special since you have lost time to make up for. Maybe head into the city and visit all of your favorite spots or go to a museum and catch dinner after. Find something to do that has significance to your relationship!

4. Wear something nice and snap them pics

We all have an outfit that our SO likes a little bit more than the rest. Why not wear it on V-Day and send them selfies throughout the day? This can add a little spice to your day and be a fun game between the two of you. We can guarantee sending a picture of yourself to your babe will put a smile on their face. It’s something small that they can appreciate even from far away!

5. Post appreciation for them on social media

Why not show your SO a little love on Instagram, Facebook or any other platform? This is a small gesture, but a cute pic with a nice caption for your friends and family to see will mean something special to your Valentine. You appreciate them, so write up a little something to demonstrate it!

Valentine’s Day can put a lot of pressure on any couple, but the most important thing is to let your SO know that you love them, whether they are near or far.
