Going to the gym can be a daunting task. If you are unsure what to bring with you to feel good before, during, and after your gym session, I’ll let you peek at some of my gym bag essentials!

Lush ‘No Drought’ Dry Shampoo – This light, powdery mix is perfect for quick application before or after a workout; and its super fine consistency helps it to blend right in with any hair color.

Cleansing Facial Wipes – Washing your face before and after you work out not only feels better, but also is better for your skin. We all know that it feels good to wash your face after working out, however, if you can also sneak in a cleanse before you break a sweat, you prevent clogged pores.

Hair Elastics – Your preference of hair elastics will depend on your hair type. My personal favorite for any strenuous activity is the slide-proof elastics that have rubber woven through them. Throw one in, sometimes two if your hair is thicker, and you won’t even think about your ponytail falling out until the workout is over.

Deodorant –  Instead of using women’s deodorant or antiperspirant, I use men’s Old Spice Pure Sport for my trips to the gym. This is one of my personal favorites. For some reason it seems that men’s deodorant does the job better (probably because guys are always smelly). Not only does it destroy the bad smell, but it also provides a new clean, fresh smell. Learning this hack my sophomore year of high school got me through hot spring practices without feeling the need to reapply deodorant until I was able to shower.

Water Bottle – Hydration is key. Enough said!

Headphones and a kick-butt playlist! – To me, the headphones are not the important part; just bring what works best for you! Be it Apple headphones or a nice clean pair of AirPods, the beat is what really matters. Start a gym playlist of catchy, consistent beats that will push you through the hills and sprints. If you’re in need of inspiration, look up workout playlists on Spotify for ideas and artists that you like!
